A month after Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt severed diplomatic, trade and transport ties with Qatar, accusing it of backing terrorism, it is suffering from isolation but is nowhere near an economic crisis.

Qatar Airways is to press on with plans to build a stake of up to 4.75 percent in American Airlines (AAL.O) in the near future, despite the "categorical" opposition of the U.S. company's management, Qatar Chief Executive Akbar al-Baker said on Thursday.

The Syrian army said on Monday it would suspend combat operations in southern Syria until Thursday to help a new round of peace talks in the Kazakh capital Astana.
